Dear Friends of Sustainable San Mateo County,

As we reach the midyear mark, I am excited to share some updates on Sustainable San Mateo County‘s progress, and more importantly, highlight the exciting opportunities ahead.

The recent heat waves have reminded us of the urgent need to equitably address climate change and its impacts. Ensuring that all members of our community are resilient to these challenges is more important than ever. At SSMC, we are dedicated to promoting sustainability in ways that benefit everyone, and we are grateful for your support in making this possible.

In the first half of this year we launched our new online, searchable Ideas Bank with over 80 solutions, we welcomed nearly 300 guests to our Awards Dinner to celebrate an inspiring group of sustainability pioneers including our first Youth Sustainability winner, we met with over half the cities in San Mateo County to discuss progress and solutions on key sustainability metrics and we hosted a discussion for government and community leaders on expanding access to E-Bikes.

In the coming months, we have several new initiatives and events lined up that I believe will significantly advance our mission of promoting sustainable practices across the county.

Our talented interns are working diligently on updating our Ideas Bank and introducing innovative new ideas that can drive sustainability in our community. We are eager to share these updates with you and to see how they inspire action and change.

We have several upcoming in-person events, including two launch events for our Dashboard and Indicators Report. These events will provide valuable insights and data on our community’s sustainability efforts and are excellent opportunities for you to connect, learn and take action together with us.

In addition to attending our events, there are several ways you can support SSMC’s mission:

  • Sponsor: You, your business or organization can become a sponsor for our upcoming events, helping to ensure their success and maximize their impact.
  • Donate: Your financial contributions are vital to our work and allow us to continue promoting sustainability in San Mateo County.
  • Volunteer: We are always looking for passionate individuals to join our volunteer team and support our various initiatives and events.

I invite you to explore these opportunities and get involved in any way you can. Your support is crucial to our success, and I am deeply grateful for your commitment to our shared mission. Thank you for being a part of our journey. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and working together toward a sustainable future.

Warm regards,

Sarah Hubbard
