Ready to join our team of volunteers? We are always on the lookout for talented and motivated individuals who want to help maintain and improve our quality of life in San Mateo County.

We’ve listed a few opportunities below, but we can use help in many areas, so please contact us if you want to get involved.

Committee Opportunities:

Indicators Committee

  • Researches and manages the Indicators Report program, which explores sustainability issues impacting San Mateo County.
  • Research, writing, graphic design, database management and data visualization skills desired.
  • Meets monthly for 1.5 hours

Awards Committee

  • Have a great time planning the county’s biggest sustainability party: our annual Sustainability Awards event! This committee plans all aspects of our Awards program, from nominations and judging, to soliciting auction donations, to event planning and coordination of SSMC’s annual spring Awards Program and Auction.
  • Event planning, database management, writing, content provider, fundraising and videographer skills desired.
  • Meets monthly from September to January and more often as Awards Event in April nears.

Communications Committee

  • Addresses communications strategy, advocacy and long-term outreach projects.
  • Writing, editing, outreach, social media and strategic communication skills desired.
  • Meets monthly at mutually convenient time.

Fund Development Committee

  • Helps develop prospects and strategies to fund SSMC’s mission and program.
  • Fundraising and grant writing experience desirable.
  • Meets monthly at mutually convenient time.

There are many ways to get involved, both over the longer term but also on short projects. We will find the right opportunity for you!
