Take a look! We’ve just launched our new, expanded Sustainability Ideas Bank to help local cities and businesses accelerate sustainability. And with the help of 10 new summer interns, we’ll have even more solutions available by the fall. To meet these new members of the SSMC team, click here.
Located on our website here, the Ideas Bank shares nearly 80 sustainability solutions from cities and businesses that have proven successful in San Mateo County as well as many other areas. It is designed to make it easier for cities and businesses to address climate change and other sustainability issues by removing the need for staff members to research the feasibility of ideas and for attorneys to draft new ordinances and policies. Instead, local leaders can move quickly to adopt solutions that have already proven successful elsewhere.
Nearly all ideas include contact information to allow leaders to talk directly with others who have implemented these solutions, along with links to staff reports, ordinances, websites and articles of interest. Suggestions for new ideas may be made through this online form or by email to ideas@sustainablesanmateo.org. For more information, visit sustainablesanmateo.org.
SSMC has been measuring sustainability progress by cities in San Mateo County since 1997. Local leaders have expressed great enthusiasm for the Ideas Bank as a way to accelerate sustainability, and interns consistently tell us the experience has taught them new skills and helped guide their studies and career plans.
