What is SMC Works? The SMC Works Program officially launched in February 2010. The program provides qualified parents with employment opportunities and promotes the recovery of the local economy. The Subsidized Employment Program will help unemployed parents re-enter or gain entry to the workforce by subsidizing the employment wages and other costs. This program serves low-income individuals with a minor child(ren) and income less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Current CalWORKs clients are eligible for this program. Participating employers may receive up to 100% of wage subsidies for hiring qualified workers.
