2019 Indicators Report
Sustainable San Mateo County’s 23rd annual Indicators Report highlights sustainability performance in San Mateo County, with an emphasis on “Climate Change: How do we respond?”
The Indicators Report focused on six topics that address climate change. These are Long Term Planning for Emergency Preparedness, Sea Level Rise/Flooding, Transportation, Renewable Energy/Energy Use, Public Health and Adaptation/Resilience.
Social Equity is discussed in each topic and highlights how climate change can differentially impact socially vulnerable populations.
SSMC launched its Indicators Report 2019 on October 31. Keynote speakers included Dr. Jenny Suckale, Assistant Professor of Geophysics and Center Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment, Stanford University and Richard Sampson, Division Chief, CAL FIRE.
This was followed by an invigorating panel discussion by experts including Kelsey Morgan (Oracle), Kirsten Andrews-Schwind (Peninsula Clean Energy), and Sophie Martin (Genentech).
