We are delighted to announce a significant addition to the Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) team–Mollie Carter, our new Communications and Outreach Lead. This strategic hire marks a pivotal moment for SSMC as we expand our efforts to drive sustainability initiatives in the region. Mollie brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to our cause, making her an exceptional individual to join our team as we continue to enable a more sustainable San Mateo County.
This hire comes on the heels of our recent announcement that Simona Vallone is taking on a new integrated role leading three of our core programs. As SSMC’s first Communications and Outreach Lead, Mollie will play a key role in bridging the gap between our valuable sustainability programs and the wider community. Her focus will be on sharing program data and resources with our government and community partners to accelerate their sustainability efforts.
Mollie Carter is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with a mission-driven focus. With two decades of experience, she has played instrumental roles in building and growing brands in Silicon Valley. Notably, Mollie contributed to the success stories of PayPal and Upwork during the early stages of her career. In the last seven years, she has been a leader dedicated to the education sector, working toward equity and access to quality education for both K-12 students and seniors.
Living in San Mateo for over 20 years, Mollie is deeply rooted in the community. Her extensive volunteer work in local schools and various organizations such as Citizens’ Climate Lobby, LifeMoves and There with Care reflects her commitment to making a positive impact.
Mollie shares, “I am thrilled to focus my professional skills on building awareness, understanding and engagement of SSMC’s vital work. By engaging with our community, together we will ensure that San Mateo County is a place where everyone can live a happy, healthy and sustainable life.”
SSMC Executive Director, Sarah Hubbard, added, “For over 30 years, SSMC has provided unique information and data that is instrumental to accelerating sustainability progress. With Mollie on board, we will be able to significantly expand engagement with our partners and ensure our valuable program data is being utilized most effectively. Mollie’s expertise and passion will be an important addition as we continue to amplify SSMC’s impact and foster a more sustainable future for San Mateo County.”
Please join us in welcoming Mollie Carter to the SSMC family!
